[UPDATE] Valve smashes Left 4 Dead PS3 rumor

According to the latest Official PlayStation Magazine's rumor section, Electronic Arts will be developing a PlayStation 3 port of Valve Software's Left 4 Dead.

"Valve's survival horror game Left 4 Dead is coming to PS3, but EA will be taking on development duties in-house," read the rumor report in the Official PlayStation Magazine.

With the last port attempt from EA being The Orange Box, should PS3 gamers be worried about Left 4 Dead? PSU.com has contacted EA for their official comment. We only hope that this time around, EA will do a better job and support the PS3 version with any necessary bug or performance fixes.

UPDATE:

Valve's Doug Lombardi has commented on the rumor, stating that "There is no PS3 version of Left 4 Dead currently in production."

    i could really care less... has anyone actually seen gameplay x_x? c'mon... You can't be waitin for RE5 so much to cave in on a title like this.

    EA...this is not going to end well.. :D prepare for massive framerate drops etc.

    to me this is better then RE5.

    fast zombies

    better gameplay (in RE5 u cant move and shoot at the same time)

    this game is scarier

    4 player co op

     

    i loved RE4 but L4D looks to be miles better in my opinion

    while left 4 dead looks promising i wouldnt sacrifice 60 bucks to play a game with terrible framerate on one console. also gabe newell is a fat as*hole

    Rejecting Valve all together now.  Theres other zombie stuff coming out; Siren and RE5.  RE5 looks better and I think will have a better storyline, imo.  Honestly, of what I've seen, L4D looks mediocre.

    Some of you people should be thankful for EA, it's the only way it's coming to the PS3 since no one else is offering to port it!!! It's actually thanks to EA otherwise people would be complaining that Orange Box isn't on the PS3, it's still a rocking game even if the 360/PC versions are better it really isn't by all that much.

    After that report that EA is making massive bucks on PS3 you bet your a$s they'll be developing This game for PS3 as well. Let's just hope it's a decent port and not like Orange Box. Hopefully it'll support Trophies as well.

    important question: what does the ps3 version get extra compared to the 360 version?  once this is answered then my decision to buy is made

    most likely RE5 will be the best zombie game of the year... no other title is making as much noise as resident evil 5

    The game looks like a crappy XBOX reject and the whole gameplay is the grim aspect of resistence 2.

     DON't LET THEM NEAR IT!!  Who wants some Valve crap when we have Resi 5 coming early next year?  Valve hates PS3 so why should we bother supporting Gabe's Fat Wallet?  Or his taste for KFC.

    The only way I would even consider getting this if it was released at the same time as 360, and wasn't from valve. Then again, I don't buy ea games either.

    This game looks mediocre at best. I don't care if it comes to Ps3 or not. I'm not giving Valve any of my money. Gabe Newell can go f himself.

    Be thankful that we dodged a bullet there! I'm glad they won't be making it for the PS3. And to all those that were rejoicing: maybe next time you'll keep your heads about you before rooting for ea/valve to release another steaming pile.

     

    I'll never understand why some people thank others who hand them a lead lifesaver on a nerf boat.

    Let's face it: Valve is a average developer and not a top noch one like Insomniac or Naughty Dog. It's obvious they don't have the skillz needed to make games on the PS3. Games for windows anyone can do, me included.

    Valve are PC fanboys and because the 360 is basically a pc in a box with a few holes, they'll do the work for it because its the same code, Valve are lazy and they'll soon see the error of their ways when they get left behind in the tech race. Can anyone remember Valve Boss boss, Gabe Newell,  famously calling the PS3 "a waste of everybody's time".

    Why buy a VALVe game for a console?

     

    besides it took them 2 god damn years to develop HL2: Episode 2 im sick of VALVe . Steam network and counter-strike: source is a constant pain for my powerhouse computer. Thier software is too buggy, glitchy and they are lazier than none other.
